About us

Aros Hall is a two-story community hall based in the heart of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. The hall is located on Tobermory Main Street and its facade forms a part of the famous picturesque Tobermory bay. The Aros Hall is owned by the local community, it was gifted to the people of Tobermory by the Allans of Aros Estate in 1949. The hall has been a registered charity since 1953, it is managed by a volunteer committee comprised of 12 Tobermory residents. The committee has a responsibility for the sustainability of the building which provides space for individuals, community groups, events, festivals and recreational activities on a daily basis. More recently, the committee’s focus has been on raising funds to upgrade the Hall to the standards of a 21st century building and one that is accessible to all.

The hall does not benefit from private or public funding and is therefore dependent on local people to both help generate income through room rentals and to volunteer their time and expertise. Local people help on both an add hock and regular basis, assisting with building repairs and maintenance, running and staffing fundraising events, managing the hall’s Gymnasium and cooking and serving at our regular Friday Lunch Club. During the summer months MESS are in the Foyer. The times for Rainydays are advertised on Facebook and on the window of the hall. We now have a part time caretaker to ensure that the hall is open between 10am and 12am. The hall committee keep a register of volunteers and are always happy to hear from anyone who feels that they may be able lend hand regardless of age or ability.
